UCI Administrative & Business Services

Dear A&BS Colleagues,

Thank you all for a wonderful contribution to another exciting UCI commencement. UCI graduated over 10,000 students this past year with over half of them being the first in their families to graduate. This is such an accomplishment and you were such a big part of the success!

I know this is a busy time of year for Administrative & Business Services. This is the time where we are closing the books and preparing for the Los Angeles Rams annual training camp. I am really thankful for the wonderful contributions you are making to this campus, and I am very appreciative for all of your hard work.

I did want to take this time to provide some additional information on our fiscal year 17/18 goals. As many of you know, one of our major initiatives is reducing administrative burden in order to allow our staff, faculty, and students to concentrate on their primary mission. In this regard, we established an A&BS Advisory Council made up of assistant deans and senior leadership on our campus to provide us with suggestions on how we can improve our processes. On June 7th, we held a kick-off meeting and over the summer we will establish a plan in which we can receive additional input and get your involvement in making some necessary changes. I am sure that with your commitment, experience, and working with the campus, we are going to have wonderful success.

On another exciting note, we are working to provide more training to our campus and we are partnering with the human resources department to provide process improvement training to interested staff and managers. Within the next month, I will provide you with additional information.

I wish all of you all a Happy 4th of July, and I am looking forward to seeing you all at our team building picnic on Wednesday, July 12th.
